    • About Be a Better Booktalker

A booktalk is kind of like an advertisement or a movie trailer. It's a tool used to "sell" books to an audience. A booktalk is written by the person trying to "sell" the book. The presenter then memorizes the booktalk, which should be several minutes long, and then presents it in front of an audience. Booktalks are primarily used by librarians, but also by teachers and even students.

    • My name is Andrea Lipinski, and I've been a public librarian, a young adult specialist, and an avid booktalker for over twenty years. My thoughts, opinions, and booktalks are mine, and not those of the library I work for, nor of any publications I write for, podcasts I contribute to, etc.
    • I decided to start a podcast about booktalking because I love booktalks, because I already record them for myself to help me memorize them, and because I feel that it's becoming a dying art.
    • More people should know how to booktalk, and booktalk well. Hopefully this website and podcast will be able to help with those efforts.
